SASO has updated its Food Contact Material (FCM) technical regulation for tools and devices used in the kitchen.
The notification states that FCMs made from certain types of material including but not limited to ceramic, metal and earthenware like clay must be tested for asbestos, or the manufacturer must state that the FCM is asbestos-free.
The update is in accordance with the Saudi Arabian Cabinet’s resolution to prohibit the importation of goods and materials containing asbestos elements.
