SASO Postpones Implementing ROHS Technical Regulation for 6 months

SASO postpones mandatory testing for restricted hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Plans category phased implementation in 6 months.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has postponed implementing the restriction of hazardous substances (ROHS) regulation for electrical and electronic equipment (EEEs). The technical regulation which includes the mandatory testing for restricted substances was scheduled to start on January 5th, 2022.

However, after considering requests from the private sector and international organizations, SASO will postpone implementation for 6 months. Afterwards, the regulation will be implemented as follows:
