The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced some technical regulations updates regarding electrical elevators used in buildings and facilities.
SASO has announced a 4-stage plan on the obligatory implementation of the technical regulations for electrical elevators used in different types of buildings:
First Stage: Starting on 13th February 2021
- Healthcare buildings
- Skyscrapers
- Government buildings
- Malls
- Residential buildings (hotels, and furnished apartments)
Second Stage: Starting on 10th August 2021
- Administrative buildings
- Commercial buildings
- Educational buildings
- Gathering buildings
Third Stage: Starting on 3rd February 2022
- High-Risk buildings
- Warehouse buildings
- Manufacturing facility buildings
- Themed buildings
Fourth Stage: Starting on 30th July 2022
- All buildings and Activities with all their categories.
Therefore, SASO has announced that approved authorities such as Cotecna can issue a Certificate of Conformity (COC) through the SABER platform after fulfilling the assessment process.
