SFDA changes COC requirements for fresh products from Egypt

  • 6/20/2022

SFDA recently made changes to the requirements for fresh products exported from Egypt to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has changed the requirements for obtaining a Certificate of Conformity (COC) for fresh products exported from Egypt.

Going forward, fresh produce shipments from Egypt will require the Certificate of Conformity plus a test report or analysis of the fresh produce. For instance, the testing criteria included in the technical regulation SFDA.FD 382 regulates the maximum level of permitted pesticide residue in agricultural and food products.

As an SFDA notified Conformity Body, Cotecna is authorized to test, inspect and issue Certificates of Conformity for all fresh produce exported from Egypt to Saudi Arabia.

Some of the regulated fresh products exported from Egypt include:

  • Leafy vegetables
  • Dry beans
  • Anise
  • Cumin

In addition, exporters to Saudi can obtain a voluntary Certificate of Conformity for unregulated fresh products. Voluntary certification ensures faster customs clearance and enhances customer confidence in the quality of your products.
